ON-LINE COURSES

Rockbridge County Public Schools – On-line Courses

Rockbridge County Public Schools provides opportunities for students to earn high school credit through on-line courses.  Courses are provided to Rockbridge County Public Schools through Class.Com (an affiliate of Lincoln National Academy) and Virtual Virginia (a program from the Virginia Department of Education.)

These courses are available, as recommended, to Rockbridge County Public School students during and after the regular school day for the academic school year, as well as during the summer session.  There is no charge to students to enroll in these courses during the academic year.  An administrative fee is charged for enrollment during the summer session.

Students interested in enrolling in on-line courses must contact the school counselors to which they are assigned for details of enrollment.  Enrollment in an on-line course is not automatic.  Once enrolled, students are expected to adhere to policy and procedures which guide on-line courses.

Upon completion of an on-line course, a student’s grade in the class and the credit earned become part of the student’s academic history.  If the class has been taken for credit recovery (a repeat of a previously taken class), the course is awarded a grade of either Pass or Fail and is not counted as part of the student’s Grade Point Average.  If the student is taking the course for the first time (one not previously taken for credit), the earned grade is recorded in academic history and the course is included in Grade Point Average Calculations.

The following is a list of courses currently available on-line through Class.Com for students enrolled in Rockbridge County Public Schools.  Unless otherwise indicated, i.e. (.5), all courses carry one high school credit.  Courses marked with (.5) carry one-half credit.
